Dapper is a US company with offices in San Francisco and New York. Founded by Eran Shir and Jon Aizen in late 2005, Dapper's vision is to allow users and marketers to achieve their goals without IT department involvement. From its inception, Dapper has provided easy-to-use technical solutions for quickly creating Widgets, Google Gadgets, and Facebook Apps — leading to its flagship product, Dapper Dynamic Ads.
Executive Team and Board
James Beriker, President and CEO: James is an online advertising technology entrepreneur and executive with extensive start-up, growth stage and public company experience. Prior to Dapper, Beriker was President & CEO of Efficient Frontier, a global technology leader in search engine marketing with over $750 million in global spend under management. Prior to Efficient Frontier, he held Vice President, Senior Vice President and General Manager positions at ValueClick [NASDAQ: VLCK], a provider of online marketing technology and services, and was the founder and CEO of Search123, one of the first pay-per-click search engine marketing platforms which was acquired by ValueClick in 2003. Prior to Search123, he practiced corporate and securities law in Los Angeles, representing early and mid-stage technology companies and entrepreneurs.
Eran Shir, Cofounder and CTO: Eran, a Technion physics masters graduate has been dreaming of Dapper for many years. Prior to Dapper, he founded and steered a large-scale, internationally acclaimed Internet research project called DIMES. Earlier, Eran co-founded and served as the CTO of Cogniview.
Jon Aizen, Cofounder and COO: Jon has been founding and working for web companies since 1994. He has extensive experience with managing large-scale, high-profile web projects, as well as operations and business development. His previous experience includes Alexa Internet and the Internet Archive. He holds a degree in computer science from Cornell University. At Dapper, Jon serves as co-founder and COO, managing US operations and strategy for the company in San Francisco.
Sam Somech, Chairman of the Board: Sam Somech is one of the world's leading experts on middleware messaging technologies. An experienced and successful entrepreneur, he has an extensive track record transforming new technologies into profitable new businesses - from initial concepts to development and commercialization. Sam was the president, CTO and co-founder of Level 8 (NASD: LVEL), as well as founder and CEO of Data Voice Systems, where he developed the concept for the first transactional messaging product, which was the foundation of IBM MQSeries. Sam received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Technion University in Israel, an M.Sc in computer science from Columbia University and an MBA from Baruch College.
Bruce Golden, Accel Partners, Member of the Board: Bruce Golden joined Accel Partners in 1997 and primarily focuses on investments in enterprise software and internet companies, with a particular interest in data management, analytic software, next-generation SaaS and Open Source software companies. Bruce currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors at several private and public companies, including comScore (SCOR), Dapper, Qliktech, Responsys and Streambase. Bruce was responsible for Accel's investment in Ajuba Solutions (acquired by Interwoven, Inc.), eCommerce Industries Inc. (acquired by Insight Venture Partners), Exchange.com (acquired by Amazon.com), Itemfield (acquired by Informatica), Offermatica (acquired by Omniture), and SupportSoft (SPRT).
Prior to Accel, Bruce held executive marketing and sales positions at Illustra Information Technologies, a pioneer in the area of object-relational databases. In 1996 Illustra merged with Informix Software, where Bruce became General Manager of the Data Warehouse Business Development Unit. Prior to Illustra, Bruce spent eight years at Sun Microsystems in a variety of leadership roles, including launching Sun's efforts into the financial services market, moving to Hong Kong to help establish the Sun Asia subsidiary, and managing the market development organization upon his subsequent return to the US.
Bruce is an active member of the World Economic Forum and is on the Selection Committee of the WEF Technology Pioneers Programme.
Bruce holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Columbia University.
Dr. Jacob Ukelson, Advisor: Dr. Jacob Ukelson is a well respected technology figure, with a proven track record of excellence and leadership. Previously, Dr. Ukelson was CTO of Itemfield (acquired by Informatica), as well as CTO and Business Development Manager for IBM's Global Technology Unit. Prior to these roles, Dr. Ukelson was a department general manager at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Lab in New York, managing a group of 130 cross-disciplinary researchers focused on creating the next generation of the Internet at the middleware and application level. Dr. Ukelson received his Doctorate of Science in computer science from the Technion University in Israel. Dr. Ukelson has been published in many technical journals and has spoken at conferences worldwide. In 1997 Dr. Ukelson received the Alexander C. Williams Ergonomics and Human Factors Award from the Human Factors Society.
